
Welcome to Kissanmaa – a Green and Lively Neighbourhood in Tampere
Kissanmaa is a vibrant garden suburb in eastern Tampere, just a short bike ride from the city centre. It offers a unique blend of urban living and green surroundings, with nearby services and access to nature.
Kissanmaa is known for its 1950s garden city design and its cultural and architectural heritage. We want to enhance Kissanmaa area as a welcoming, sustainable and life-centred neighbourhood. We invite you to join us – all residents are welcome.
Kissanmaan Omakotiyhdistys r.y. association works to promote wellbeing, community spirit, and a rich urban culture in the neighbourhood. We aim to preserve the area’s distinctive character and influence local planning and development in ways that reflect residents’ values.

Kissanmaa residents’ idea workshops
Join us to share your thoughts and hopes for the future living in Kissanmaa neighbourhood!
What are your thoughts on good living in Kissanmaa and the surrounding area? What bothers or concerns you?
What would you like to do together with others?
We welcome residents of all ages and backgrounds from Kissanmaa and nearby areas. Children and young people can join their own creative workshop with arts and Lego building. A free shared meal is provided for all participants. The events do not require any commitment; we simply want to hear your ideas.
First workshop: Sun 12 April, 3–6 pm
Location: Juhlatalo Tapiola, Karhunkatu 71
The first workshop focuses on exploring what good living in the area means and generating resident-led ideas for local activities.

Second workshop: Sun 3 May 2026, 3–6 pm
In the second workshop, we will work together to refine the ideas and explore how they could be put into practice.

Language: Events are held in Finnish. Workshops are organised in a language-aware manner. One ore more groups in each workshop discusses in English when needed.
The resident workshops are organised by the Kissanmaan Omakotiyhdistys ry. association with support from the City of Tampere. The events are open to all residents of Kissanmaa and nearby areas, regardless of your housing type.
